Garrett Jay often takes hundreds of wave pictures before potentially succeeding to capture a very special one. For this image he chose to use his Color Eyes methodology where he experiments with unexpected colors and exaggerates them with the intent of challenging our perception of natural beauty. Waves can be a stunning representation of energy and impermanence. Here the face of the wave could be a sign of the calm before the energy of the crash is released. Maybe it can also be interpreted as a metaphor for life – mounting pressure, reaching a crest, and letting go.
